Principal Garmon has been a steady, compassionate leader at Broadway Elementary for over a decade. Her deep understanding of our dual immersion programs and commitment to every student’s growth has built a rare and invaluable sense of trust and community. As a kindergarten parent, I’ve seen firsthand how much the little things matter—like her warm smile that my child looks forward to each morning, and the thoughtful way she responds to parent questions. We’re so grateful for the care, continuity, and heart she brings to our school every day.

Principal Garmon has been with Broadway for literally decades. LAUSD has a long history of false promises with the Mandarin program, especially at Broadway. A culture of self-sufficiency has developed from this in the parent community at Broadway. Now, LAUSD wants to punish the program for it? Ridiculous. Broadway is one of the crown jewels of LAUSD and is an incredibly bright spot in my child's childhood. Principal Garmon (Ms. Garmon at that time) was an integral part of that. Let it continue to be this way for more children to come under the leadership of a principal that has proven she understands what the students and teachers at Broadway need to thrive.

I worked at Broadway from September 1984 until January 2015. I met Principal Garmon when she arrived at Broadway as a young Ms. Robinson ready to teach second grade. She served as an exemplary educator who moved up the ladder with intelligence, grace, and integrity. I was saddened to learn that Principal Garmon is slated to be removed from Broadway at the end of 24-25 school year. I believe that her removal would be devastating to the Broadway community. I sincerely hope that the powers that be will reconsider their decision and keep Principal Garmon at Broadway for years to come.
